For Janice Lloyd coming to Demesne has brought her life full circle.A former pupil at the old Demesne Primary school based on the site, she is now treasurer of the Blind Group here.
Since losing the majority of her sight through diabetes 14 years ago, Janice, who lives on Bonscale Crescent has been a regular at the blind group.
The group currently have around 12 regular members and met at Demesne every Monday morning. While most members me from Langley, the club is open to members from across Middleton and two members currently travel from Rhodes and Alkrington.
She said: “It's so much more than a social group for blind and partially sighted people. At the minute we're working to build dolls houses and forts which hopefully we can sell or raffle to buy more supplies.
“In the past we've done sewing and made dolls while the men have made stools and other wood products.
“It's a place to come and chat as well as keeping busy.”
